Research
Did you use particular sources? Then this golden rule is valid: check and double check! Don't blindly trust information you gather online or in interviews.
Always try to get a second source that will confirm your information.
Is your story based only on sources that appear to be reliable and credible? Anonymity, grammar and spelling mistakes and extreme ideas should make you extra alert. Numbers are very sensitive and require extra research. And improbable stories or events require extra care.
Finally, keep on allowing all parties to have their say, according to the principle of argument and counterargument. This is the only way to maintain balanced research, and it strengthens your believability as media maker.
