Audience & Aim

Have you carefully considered your product's purpose and target audience? It is not advisable to create media without thought. In general, you create media with a clear goal in view, and for a specific audience.

A clear goal helps you to work out a good story. Try to describe clearly what you wish to achieve with your product. What do you want the recipient of your message to do or to know after using your media product. The following highly confrontational question can help your progress: Why, in heavens name, do I want to make this product?

Why is it so important to consider the audience? Because the way you tell a story differs from one target group to another. For example, you would tell a story about the hipster culture in different ways for children, young adults and seniors.

Have you lost sight of this during the creative process? Then you had better still consider the way to reach your target group later. For example, you cannot reach children via Facebook because they are still too young for an account. And, of course, you won't reach seniors through a youth event.
